After several days of rain, heat has returned to mainland Portugal with intensity. Temperatures have risen significantly again, marking a sharp change in the weather conditions that were felt in recent days.
Thursday will be the hottest day of this heat wave. Some municipalities in the Alentejo are expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius, recording extremely high temperatures.
The entire interior of the country is at maximum fire risk. This combination of high temperatures and vegetation still moist from recent rain creates particularly concerning conditions for fire spread.
Authorities and weather services warn of the need for vigilance during this period of intense heat, especially in interior regions where fire risk is highest.
