Senator Omar Aziz presented a favorable opinion on ending the 6x1 work schedule, with a reduction of the weekly work hour limit from 44 to 40 hours and a guarantee of two days of rest per week. The rapporteur maintained the text approved by the Chamber of Deputies and rejected the 36 amendments presented, the majority by the opposition.
The opposition leader in the Senate, Rogério Marinho, criticized the proposal and stated that the text does not represent a project for the country, but rather a political initiative by the PT. According to him, the worker is being used as an "electoral pawn."
Omar Aziz stated that he has the votes to pass the proposal in committee and intends to request urgency and a special calendar to accelerate the processing of the PEC. The measure seeks to reduce the intervals between voting in first and second round, since constitutional amendment proposals require a qualified quorum.
The rapporteur also said that he spoke with representatives from the commerce, services, aviation, and private school sectors, who approved the proposal.
