Central defender Tosin Adarabioyo was officially announced as a Tottenham signing. The player leaves Chelsea for €8 million and signs for Spurs, although the English club did not disclose the contract duration. The centre-back joins names like Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, and Omar Marmoush in the Tottenham squad.
The player had been linked to Benfica during this transfer window. Alessandro Circati was the defensive solution chosen by the encarnados, but Adarabioyo had previously emerged as an alternative considered by the Portuguese club.
The eagles ultimately abandoned their pursuit of the central defender. Reports indicated that the financial demands associated with the Chelsea defender, at the time, ended up pushing Benfica away from the deal. The substantial salary earned by the England international made the operation unviable for the encarnados.
Tosin Adarabioyo had previously worked with Marco Silva during their time together at Fulham. The centre-back ends up remaining in England and in the Premier League, opting for Tottenham instead of a transfer to Portugal.
