Municipality reinforces support for farmers affected by fires

A Voz de Trás-os-Montes2 September 2026 at 13:52

The mayor of Valpaços, Jorge Mata Pires, met with the parish council presidents of the nine parishes affected by the fires and with the agricultural associations of the municipality to coordinate a joint response to support producers. The meeting's main objective was the preparation and submission of applications for measure C.4.1.3 — Restoration of Productive Potential.

The defined strategy involves the municipality, through the Promotion and Investment Office, the parish councils and the agricultural associations. The parish councils play a fundamental role in identifying and flagging situations, as well as in referring producers to available technical support, due to their proximity to the populations and direct knowledge of the territory.

Measure C.4.1.3 is intended for natural and legal persons whose farms have recorded losses exceeding 30% of productive potential, with a maximum investment limit of 400 thousand euros per application. Support is granted as a non-reimbursable subsidy for expenses related to buildings, agricultural infrastructure, machinery, equipment, replacement of animals and plantations.

Regarding funding rates, there is a co-financing of 100% up to 10 thousand euros, and 80% for the remaining amount with active crop insurance, or 50% for producers without insurance. Applications can be submitted until 5:00 PM on October 27, 2026. The municipality calls on affected farmers to quickly contact their respective parish council or agricultural association to adequately prepare the process in advance.
