PS sees no changes that justify doubling the price of the police station work in Ponta do Sol

SAPO Notícias2 September 2026 at 13:03

The local committee of the PS in Ponta do Sol expressed surprise at the announcement made by the municipal council executive, led by Rui Marques of the PSD, that the work on the new PSP police station will cost 4.5 million euros. The socialists consider this value excessively high.

According to the statement released this morning, the cost of the work represents double what had been initially planned. The council justified the increase with changes to the initial project.

However, the PS of Ponta do Sol does not recognize that there were changes that justify this doubling of the price. The socialists guarantee that there were no significant modifications to the project that could explain such a substantial increase in costs.

Faced with this situation, the PS demands explanations from the municipal executive of Rui Marques. The socialists intend to understand the reasons that led to the doubling of the cost of the construction of the new PSP police station in Ponta do Sol.
