The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) published on Wednesday the suspension of cleaning product manufacturing at the Unilever facility located in Vinhedo, in the state of São Paulo. The action is preventive and was adopted after an inspection conducted between August 24 and 28.
During the inspection, failures in good manufacturing practices were identified, which are requirements that companies must comply with to ensure that production has adequate quality control systems. Among the inconsistencies are failures in the controls carried out during manufacturing and before product release, deficiencies in monitoring the water used in the production process, and weaknesses in the investigation and correction of problems identified by the company itself.
There is no order for batch recall, prohibition of product use, or suspension of commercialization. The assessment of available evidence so far has not indicated microbiological contamination or other problems with the products manufactured at the facility.
