German police opened an anti-terrorism investigation after Tuesday's attack on an electricity substation near the coal-fired power plant in Jänschwalde, in eastern Germany. The incident is being treated as a possible act of terrorism by the authorities.
The suspicions include disruption of public services, detonation of explosives and destruction of essential equipment for the functioning of the infrastructure. In addition to these crimes, an investigation was also opened into the formation of a terrorist organization.
The investigation is being carried out by the headquarters of the Brandenburg state police, located in Potsdam. The authorities have not yet disclosed details about suspects or possible motives for the attack.
