Caixa Geral de Depósitos mobilizes approximately 300 employees to accompany students entering higher education at the start of the academic year. The operation takes place simultaneously at more than 30 universities, polytechnic universities and higher education institutes, covering more than 120 schools and faculties across the country.
During the first weeks of the new academic year, Caixa employees present on campuses support students in issuing their respective institution's identification card and in accessing financial solutions aimed at the academic community. The institution offers a specific package for students and presents a new version of the Caixa IU Card for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The bank's connection with academia, led by Paulo Macedo, has been established for 32 years through the Caixa IU program – Polytechnics and Universities, which, according to the institution's data, mobilizes an annual investment exceeding 11 million euros. This relationship includes initiatives that promote academic merit and equal opportunities, among which the Caixa Mais Mundo Awards, which in 2025 distinguished 600 students through prizes and scholarships.
