Research and development expenditure reached a new all-time high in 2025, corresponding to 1.82% of Gross Domestic Product. This value was presented by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro during the PSD Summer University.
The value represents an increase compared to 2024, when total expenditure on research and development was at 1.73% of GDP. The difference between the two years indicates a positive evolution of investment in this area.
Montenegro's statement about the new record in research and development expenditure was classified as true.
