The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Cavaliere, published a decree on Wednesday, July 2, which exempts municipal servers from direct and indirect administrations who practice the Jewish religion from signing the attendance sheet on certain dates in September 2026.
The dispensation covers dates corresponding to Rosh Hashanah, which are September 11, 2026, starting at 3pm, and September 12 and 13, 2026, as well as dates corresponding to Yom Kippur, which are September 20, 2026, starting at 3pm, and September 21, 2026.
Decree 58,630, published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality, establishes that these days will be counted as effective service, not causing any prejudice to the servers' rights and advantages.
According to the decree's text, the General Human Resources Coordination will issue guidance on the dispensation to the servers covered by the measure.
