The Portuguese voluntarily handed over 265 weapons and almost six thousand rounds of ammunition to the Public Security Police (PSP) during a two-month operation. This number represents a significant increase compared to previous years.

The data comes from the assessment of the national operation called "Armas em Segurança – Tour de Verão 2026". This campaign toured the country between June 29 and August 31.

The PSP's specialized services in weapons and explosives were taken to dozens of municipalities and parishes during the operation period, allowing citizens to voluntarily hand over their weapons and ammunition.
