Portuguese families significantly reinforced their savings, having invested a total of 13.7 billion euros in new deposits. This value represents a substantial increase in the savings trend of families.
The average rate on new deposits rose for the sixth consecutive month, reaching 1.59%. This continuous increase reflects a recovery trend in the returns offered to depositors.
However, despite this increase, the average rate in Portugal continues to be below the average recorded in the euro area, which means that Portuguese deposits still offer lower returns than those of other countries in the European single currency.
