Ryanair to reduce winter flights to limit fuel costs

dnoticias.pt2 September 2026 at 12:40

The Irish airline Ryanair announced plans to reduce the number of flights during the next winter, as a measure to limit fuel costs. The decision arises in response to high fuel prices, which the company attributes to the consequences of the war in the Middle East.

Ryanair also warned of the possibility of increases in air ticket prices if fuel prices continue to rise. In the statement issued, the company considered it "sensible" to reduce fuel needs during this time of year.

The company justified that winter is an "unprofitable" period for the aviation sector, which makes reducing operations a strategic measure to control costs during this less favorable period.

As a direct result of this decision, Ryanair also reduced its passenger target for the year. The article indicates that the European airline consequently cut its passenger transport target, although the sentence remains incomplete.
