Liliana Rodrigues criticized the waiting times in emergency rooms in Portugal, stating that they constitute a disgrace to the Ministry of Health. The official pointed to the lack of working conditions as one of the main obstacles to retaining nurses in the country.

The President of the Governing Board of the Order of Nurses also argued that the controversy involving Luís Neves, who was appointed to lead the Executive Directorate of the NHS and ultimately did not take office, has functioned as a shield for the Government, diverting attention from the structural issues in the health sector.

Liliana Rodrigues defended that attractive conditions need to be created to retain nursing professionals in Portugal, warning that the current situation compromises the quality of care provided to patients.
