The Federal Police used digital forensic analysis techniques to track communications attributed to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court. The report prepared by the experts describes how metadata and temporary files were cross-referenced to reconstruct the sequence of messages and documents sent via WhatsApp.
The investigations involved the detailed examination of digital records that allowed the identification of communication patterns and connections between users of the messaging platform. The experts were able to reconstitute the flow of information from traces left in the systems.
The case is related to investigations into alleged fraud in attendance records of officials on the premises of the Superior Electoral Court. The defense of Minister Alexandre de Moraes contested the legality of the evidence obtained through this forensic analysis.
The PF's technical report demonstrated how seemingly deleted or fragmented data can be recovered through specific digital analysis methods, allowing the tracing of communications carried out through the messaging application.
