A new Primark store was inaugurated in Castelo Branco, at a ceremony that took place on the morning of September 2nd. The opening of this store represents a milestone for commerce in the city, which now counts with one of these affordable international fashion chain's stores.

The President of the Municipality of Castelo Branco, Leopoldo Rodrigues, was present at the opening ceremony. His presence demonstrates the municipality's interest in this type of investment for the region.

With this new store, residents of Castelo Branco and surrounding areas now have access to Primark's products without needing to travel to other cities. This is another step in the city's commercial development.

Cheap money is over. Japan sees 10-year interest rate hit 3% for the first time in 30 years

Strike notices surge almost 65% in the first seven months of the year

In the first seven months of 2026, 739 strike pre-notices were registered in Portugal, an increase of almost 65% compared to the same period in 2025 (449 notices), according to data from DGERT. This rise is explained by the strong opposition to the Labour reform of the Government of Luís Montenegro, which was ultimately rejected in Parliament. UGT and CGTP called general strikes against the proposed changes, which included expanding sectors with minimum services. The Executive argues that the revision of labour law is necessary to increase productivity and wages, but the Chega party blocked the approval of the measures. Of the 122 pre-notices that resulted in minimum services in July, 50 were through agreements between the parties, 26 went through the CES and 46 were decided by government decree.
