Banking institutions in Portugal granted over 2.3 billion euros for house purchase in July, breaking a historical record for this month. The data released by the Bank of Portugal confirm a strong acceleration in access to real estate financing.
The amount granted registered an increase of 166 million euros compared to the previous month, demonstrating the sustained growth trend in housing credit. This value represents the highest ever recorded in July since records began.
The dynamism of the Portuguese real estate sector has been driving the demand for credit for property acquisition, in a context of interest rates that, although high, have maintained some stability. The massive granting of financing also reflects the interest of Portuguese people in investing in purchasing their own home.
