Luís Neves says he is not a "gangster". Chega should proceed with motion of censure

ZAP Notícias2 September 2026 at 11:34

The Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, reacted this Tuesday to insinuations and accusations that have been made against him, saying he is not a "gangster" and that he will not be intimidated. The statement came during the anniversary ceremony of the PSP Regional Command of Madeira, which took place in Câmara de Lobos, where the minister celebrated the 148 years of the police force in the region.

Luís Neves said he has been targeted by lies and insinuations, but guaranteed he will continue to govern and work normally. "They don't intimidate me, they will never intimidate me," the minister declared, arguing that he has the authority to remain in office.

The Chega party should proceed with a motion of censure against Luís Neves. The party leader, André Ventura, should decide on the presentation of the motion still today, after the news about the accusations against the minister. The far-right party has been pressuring for the minister's departure from the Government.
