The Senate approved this Tuesday (the 1st) the provisional measure (MP) that regulates a R$ 30 billion credit line for purchase of cars by app drivers and taxi drivers. The text had already been approved by the Chamber of Deputies on Monday (the 31st) and now follows for presidential sanction.
The initiative is part of an electoral package by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is a candidate for re-election, being issued as a gesture to financially help this category of workers.
On Thursday, the government extended from 72 to up to 84 months the maximum reimbursement term, maintaining up to six months of principal grace period. In addition, the maximum value of the automobile that can be financed by the program was raised from R$ 150 thousand to R$ 200 thousand.
The R$ 30 billion from the Treasury is transferred to the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal or other public financial institutions for the operationalization of the financing.
