The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, announced that Portugal will assess new sanctions against Iran on a "case-by-case basis". This statement comes in the context of growing international tensions related to Tehran.

Rangel also expressed "considerable apprehension" regarding the resumption of hostilities between the United States and Iran. The Portuguese diplomat considered the current situation to be worrying and requiring attention.

The official defended that "it is necessary to de-escalate" the conflict, underlining the importance of a prudent and measured approach by the international community in the face of the escalating tension between Washington and Tehran.
