A small Chinese jade statue, over 600 years old, was found at a car boot sale in the United Kingdom and could yield up to £10 thousand (about R$70 thousand) at auction. The piece was bought for just £1 by a customer who arrived late to the sale and saw it inside a box at one of the stalls.
The sculpture, 8.5 centimeters in length, represents a dog with its head turned back and its paws and tail tucked in. Made of jade in green and black tones, the piece is estimated to be from the late 14th century and early 15th century, the period of the early years of the Ming dynasty.
The auction will take place this Wednesday at Hansons auction house in Etwall, Derbyshire county. According to auctioneer Charles Hanson, the discovery represents a "magical story," since an object of significant historical and artistic value was found among common objects at a car boot sale.
