The ADN Madeira party accused the Portuguese State of "disinvestment" in security forces, through a statement. The party considers that the reinforcement of means announced for the Public Security Police in the Autonomous Region of Madeira does not resolve the structural deficiencies of personnel that persist.
According to ADN Madeira, the State has left police officers "paying the difference" for decades of disinvestment in security forces. This accusation arises as a criticism of the way the Government has been treating the situation of personnel and available resources for security forces in the region.
The party made an assessment of the three-day visit of the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, to Madeira. During this visit, the minister acknowledged that Portugal faces the consequences of decades of disinvestment, a statement that ADN Madeira highlights as confirmation of its concerns.
The party's statement emphasizes that, despite the ministerial recognition, the announced measures are not sufficient to address the structural failures identified in Madeira's security forces.
