Oeiras: "Brazil Week" returns with 37 businesses united to celebrate Brazilian culture

Agência Incomparáveis2 September 2026 at 09:00

The historic center of Oeiras, west of Lisbon, hosts from September 4 to 13 the tenth edition of "Brazil Week", which this year presents its largest edition, bringing together 37 commercial establishments in a program dedicated to Brazilian gastronomy, culture and traditions, with free admission and participation open to the public.

The initiative was born in 2016, during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, when the ice cream shop Don Pavili, in Oeiras, created ice cream flavors inspired by Brazilian sweets and gastronomy. The celebration subsequently began to repeat annually around September 7, the date when Brazil celebrates its Independence.

In 2025, in the ninth edition, the project was no longer confined to the ice cream shop and moved to the public space of the historic center, with the participation of Gatafunho Publishing House and Bookstore, the Polvo Brotherhood and the Carioca Frying Pan. The success of that experience led to the project's expansion in 2026, with the organization seeking to involve local merchants and institutions in preparing the tenth edition.

This year's program includes reinterpretations of Brazilian gastronomy classics, samba circles, concerts, performances, lectures, literary presentations, narrated tales, handicrafts, workshops and masterclasses. The organization thanked the involvement of the Commercial and Business Association of the Municipalities of Oeiras and Amadora, the Oeiras Municipal Council, the Union of Parishes of Oeiras and São Julião da Barra, Paço de Arcos and Caxias, and partners from Portugal and Brazil.
