A technical meeting held in Vila Viçosa marked the resumption of the process to classify and preserve unique Roman archaeological remains at national and Iberian Peninsula scale, found inside a marble quarry. The meeting, promoted by the CECHAP Study Centre, brought together various entities, including the CCDR Alentejo, the DGEG, archaeologists from the University of Évora and the Municipal Council. The objective is to find a solution that reconciles the preservation of archaeological heritage with the continuity of the quarry's industrial activity, possibly later integrating the Marble Route for tourism valorization purposes.
