The Santa Catarina Fortress at Praia da Rocha hosts from September 18 to 20 the first edition of Portimão World Beer Groove, a new event dedicated to international beer culture with free entry. The Municipality of Portimão describes the initiative as an unprecedented concept that seeks to take advantage of the location of the space and its proximity to the sea and the Arade River. The event is organized in partnership by Portimão City Council and promoters Ibérica Eventos & Espetáculos and Hugo Casado.
The festival presents a premium selection of 13 beers from around the world, from the United States, Italy, Japan, Spain, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Scotland, England, Portugal, and Ireland. Among the brands announced are Coors, Peroni, Asahi, Estrella Galicia, Budvar, Paulaner, Blue Moon, Brugse Zot and Kopparberg, joined by BrewDog, Coalition, Nortada and Guinness. The offering covers different styles and production methods, from lagers and wheat beers to craft proposals and stout. The beers can be tasted in an official and personalized event glass, available at the venue entrance.
In addition to the beer component, the event will feature street food gastronomic proposals and musical programming over the three days. At sunset there will be DJ sets of Chillout and Deep House, while later, the programming will be dedicated to Pop and Rock classics from the 1970s to 2000s. The schedules vary depending on the day: on September 18 the venue will be open between 18:00 and 00:00, on Saturday, September 19, from 12:00 to 00:00, and on Sunday, September 20, from 12:00 to 22:00.
