The Ibex turns upward and advances 0.2% despite tension in the Middle East

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General2 September 2026 at 09:17

The Spanish stock market index Ibex 35 closed this Wednesday in positive territory, with a slight rise of 0.20%, sitting at 19,864.60 points, after having started the session in negative territory. The Madrid select index started the day with a decline of 0.17%, to 19,790 points, initially losing the 19,800 level it had managed to maintain on Tuesday, despite having closed with a 0.75% decline.

Market evolution continues to be marked by the escalating tension in the Middle East, after the exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran. This situation continues to push oil prices upward, with the Brent barrel, the benchmark in Europe, remaining near 95 dollars.
