The National Maritime Authority recorded 22 deaths on Portuguese beaches during the four months of beach season, according to a report released today. The document also states that 1,285 rescues and 2,359 first aid actions were carried out during this period.
In the month of August, four cases involving fatalities were recorded. Of these four cases, three were caused by sudden illness.
