The school calendar for 2026/2027 is already defined for public pre-school, primary, and secondary education establishments. The return to classes is expected between September 11 and 15, with each school or school group setting the exact start date.
However, scientific-humanistic courses in secondary education are an exception, as these students only return to classes on September 21. This change in the start of the school year results from the creation of an extraordinary national exam season, announced by the Ministry of Education after the technical difficulties observed in the electronic grading of the tests from the 2025/2026 school year.
The calendar defines the start and end dates of the three school terms. The first term runs from September to December 15, 2026, the second from January 4 to March 19, 2027, and the third from April 5 until varying dates. School breaks are also planned for Christmas (December 16 to 31), Carnival (February 8 to 10), and Easter (March 22 to April 2).
The end of the third term varies according to the year of study: students in the 9th, 11th, and 12th grades finish on June 4; those in the 5th to 10th grade on June 11; and pre-school and primary school children on June 30, 2027.
