Inclusive education without adapted materials leaves students with disabilities behind

Correio da Manhã2 September 2026 at 08:38

A report warned that simply placing a child with a disability in a regular school is not sufficient to fulfill the right to inclusive education. The lack of adapted materials and adequate resources leaves many students with disabilities behind in the education system.

The document argues that true educational inclusion goes beyond the mere physical integration of students with disabilities in regular schools. It is necessary to guarantee conditions that allow these students effective access to the curriculum and learning.

The report highlights the need for investments in teacher training, accessible teaching materials, and assistive technologies. Without these resources, regular schools continue to exclude, even if unintentionally, the students they should be supporting.

According to the report, inclusive education requires a profound transformation in pedagogical practices and school infrastructure. Only with adequate public policies and political will will it be possible to ensure that all students with disabilities have true opportunities for learning.
