The Lisbon Stock Exchange opened Wednesday's session, September 2nd, with a gain of 0.25% to 9,502.23 points. Among the biggest gains on the Portuguese stock exchange are Sonae with 0.99% to 2.04 euros, Banco Comercial Português with 0.58% to 1.12 euros, and REN with 0.43% to 3.51 euros. Also in the green were Galp Energia, EDP, Navigator, Jerónimo Martins, NOS, Mota-Engil and Teixeira Duarte. In the red were Ibersol, CTT, EDP Renováveis, Corticeira Amorim and Semapa.
The main European stock exchanges opened in mixed territory. Germany's DAX breaks down 0.16%, France's CAC 40 falls 0.02% and the UK's FTSE 100 breaks down 0.07%. On the other hand, the Netherlands' AEX gains 0.05%, Spain's IBEX 35 advances 0.31% and Italy's FTSE MIB rises 0.23%.
Oil is being traded higher, with brent rising 0.37% to $95 and crude advancing 0.01% to $90.23. The rise in the commodity is due to the continuation of attacks between the United States and Iran. The US Central Command confirmed on September 1st that it had successfully completed attacks on Iranian military targets, including air defense installations, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communication sites. In response, Iran attacked US bases in the Middle East on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, firing drones and missiles at military installations in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq.
On the foreign exchange market, the euro is falling 0.17% against the dollar to $1.15725 and down 0.05% against the pound to 0.85716 pounds.
