The National Institute for the Defense of Children's Rights (INDDICA) identified 58 children selling on the streets of Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste. The number represents more than 55 children found in vulnerable situations on the public streets of the city.
The information was provided by the coordinator of INDDICA's monitoring unit, Izaias Carvalho Pereira, who spoke to the news agency. INDDICA is a public body of Timor-Leste responsible for the defense of children's rights in the country.
This identification comes within the scope of the monitoring and child protection activities developed by the institute, which aims to combat situations of exploitation and child vulnerability on the streets of the Timorese capital.
