DR Congo exceeds the barrier of 3,000 dead from the Ebola outbreak

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General2 September 2026 at 07:36

The Democratic Republic of Congo exceeded the barrier of 3,000 dead from the Ebola outbreak affecting the country. The number of fatal victims has already exceeded three thousand people since the beginning of the outbreak.

The outbreak was declared on May 15 in the east of the country, becoming one of the largest and most severe Ebola outbreaks recorded in the history of the disease. The eastern region of the DRC has been the epicenter of the health crisis.

Congolese authorities reported that the total number of confirmed cases registered reaches 6,186. This high number of infections demonstrates the масштаб (scale) of the outbreak and the difficulty in containing the spread of the virus in the region.

Ebola is a serious viral disease that is transmitted through direct contact with bodily fluids of infected people or animals, which makes containment work particularly challenging in the affected areas.
