Kremlin admits possible meeting between Xi, Trump and Putin at APEC summit

RTP Notícias2 September 2026 at 07:20

The Kremlin admitted the possibility that the Chinese President Xi Jinping, the American President Donald Trump, and the Russian President Vladimir Putin would hold a trilateral meeting during the next Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China.

The information was advanced by the spokesperson for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, who confirmed that such a meeting is being considered, although official confirmations have not yet been announced by China or the United States.

The APEC summit is taking place in China, the country that holds the rotating presidency of the forum this year, which gives Xi Jinping a central role in organizing the event.

If confirmed, this would be a meeting of enormous geopolitical significance, bringing together the leaders of the three largest world powers at a time of elevated international tensions and commercial and political disputes between the countries involved.
