Chega keeps motion of no confidence in the Government pending

Observador2 September 2026 at 06:37

The Chega party keeps open the possibility of presenting a censure motion against the Government, without yet having announced a final decision on this matter. The party leader, André Ventura, continues not to clarify whether he will effectively go ahead with the motion.

The Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI) issued a warning to the Chega leader, making clear that the executive will not be intimidated by threats or political pressure. This position arises in a context of tension between the party and the executive.

Regarding the fires that have been devastating the country, the Diário de Notícias (DN) reported that the majority of fires are not related to arson. This information contrasts with some claims that have been made by different political forces.
