The Timorese Government approved today, at a Council of Ministers meeting, a special public procurement regime to prepare for the presidency of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which Timor-Leste will assume in 2029.
The special public procurement regime aims to facilitate the logistical and organizational processes necessary for the preparation of the leadership of the regional bloc.
Timor-Leste became an observer member of ASEAN in 2022, and the approval of this regime marks another concrete step in the country's preparation to assume the rotating presidency of the regional organization.
The decision was made by the Timorese Council of Ministers, responsible for defining the policies and priorities of the country's Government.
