A lumberjack identified as Amável Querido died hit by a tree in the chest, in Caldas da Rainha. The accident occurred while he was carrying out timber extraction work on a piece of land in the region.
The man was working with a chainsaw when the tree fell on him. The fall caused serious injuries to the chest area, which proved fatal.
The victim's niece, who is a nurse by profession, tried to provide first aid at the scene of the accident. Despite the relative's efforts, the lumberjack did not survive his injuries.
