The Senate approved this Monday the provisional measure (MP) that regulates a R$ 30 billion credit line for purchasing cars by app drivers and taxi drivers. The initiative is part of an electoral package by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is a candidate for reelection. The text was approved on Monday by the Chamber and follows for presidential sanction.
The financing line is directed at app drivers and taxi drivers. On Thursday, the government extended from 72 to up to 84 months the maximum reimbursement period, maintaining up to six months of principal grace period. Additionally, the maximum value of the automobile that can be financed by the program was raised from R$ 150 thousand to R$ 200 thousand.
The R$ 30 billion from the Treasury is transferred to the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal or other authorized financial institutions. The measure was issued as a nod to financially assist the category.
