Reading: a serious commitment

The article addresses the importance of the National Reading Plan as an initiative that must go beyond good intentions and be effectively developed and practiced. It argues that reading should not be seen merely as a pleasure or a necessity, but also as a duty. The text emphasizes the importance of better knowing Portuguese culture and the cultures with which the country relates. It concludes that reading is linked to the understanding that we cannot exist without a stable relationship with the memory of our roots and with the existence of others.
