Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), indicated that he intends to bring to the Court's full bench the discussion about a Federal Police report that gathers information about banker Daniel Vorcaro's relationship with Minister Alexandre de Moraes, regardless of the position of the attorney general, Paulo Gonet.
In a filing presented on Tuesday night, Gonet argued that the order from Mendonça that led to the production of the report is null. The attorney general stated that the minister could not have ordered the Federal Police to deepen investigations involving Moraes. For Gonet, it would be up to the STF's full bench to decide beforehand whether there were elements to investigate a member of the Court itself.
Hours before the PGR's filing, however, Mendonça had already anticipated that Gonet's position would not change the fate of the case. In a ruling released on Tuesday, the minister stated that, "regardless of what the [Prosecutor's Office]'s position may be," the "inevitable path" would be to bring the matter to the attention of the Court's full panel.
