The American authorities seized over 560 thousand dollars, equivalent to 483 thousand euros, in cryptocurrency donations destined for Hamas. The operation was carried out by the American federal police (FBI), according to the announcement by the Department of Justice.
The digital currency donations were intercepted as part of an action aimed at disrupting the financing of the Palestinian Islamic group. This seizure represents a significant blow to Hamas's efforts to obtain funds through decentralized digital platforms.
The Department of Justice did not specify how many digital wallets were affected by the seizure nor did it reveal the identity of the suspects involved in sending the funds. The operation demonstrates the growing scrutiny of American authorities over cryptocurrency transactions associated with organizations considered terrorist.
