Enzo Fernández swaps Chelsea for City for €146M

Dia de Jogo — jornal desportivo2 September 2026 at 00:07

Enzo Fernández leaves Chelsea to transfer to Manchester City in a deal worth 146 million euros. The Argentine midfielder, 25 years old, signed a contract with the English club until 2032, thus becoming one of the most expensive signings in football history.

This transfer comes at a time when Monaco cancelled the sale that was expected to occur in the opposite direction, that is, from Monaco to Chelsea. This decision by the Monegasque club deprived Chelsea of a possible replacement for Fernández.

Chelsea, who had signed Enzo Fernández from River Plate in January 2023 for a Premier League record amount, now sees one of their most expensive players leave without being able to secure an immediate replacement in the squad trained by Enzo Maresca.
