The publisher owning the magazines "Lux", "Woman", "Moda" and "Deco" suddenly closed down, resulting in the dismissal of the entire newsroom. Dozens of journalists were left without salaries and were thrown into the Wage Guarantee Fund, a fund that guarantees salary payments in case of company insolvency.
The magazines belonged to the so-called "Lux" universe and their publication was carried out in Portugal. The sudden closure of the publisher left media professionals in a situation of great professional and financial uncertainty.
Just 24 hours after the publisher's closure, a new owner emerged who took over the magazine brands. This new owner expressed the intention to continue publishing the publications.
The new owner promised that the magazines would be available at newsstands by the following week, thus trying to ensure the continuity of the publications and, possibly, the reintegration of some of the professionals who had been left without work.
