Two children were run over in a collision between two cars on the Rio-Teresópolis Highway, at the height of Imbariê, in Duque de Caxias. The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon and resulted in one of the vehicles rolling over. An 11-year-old boy was in serious condition and an 8-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.
The victims were rescued and taken to Hospital Adão Pereira Nunes. According to Ecovias, the concessionaire that manages the highway, the collision between the vehicles occurred around 1:40 PM, at KM 140 of the road.
The lane towards Rio de Janeiro had to be completely closed after the accident and remained shut until 3 PM. At this time, the highway is already operating normally.
