Journalist Diogo Carreira was in Nepal to report on the devastating effects of floods in the country. Through the NOW project, he presented images of the destruction caused by the floods.
The situation on the ground proved to be particularly severe, with several dwellings completely submerged in mud. The journalist described a scenario of widespread destruction affecting numerous families and local communities.
Local authorities now face the challenge of assessing the extent of the damage and finding solutions for the affected populations. The reconstruction of the flooded areas presents itself as a complex and urgent task.
There is also concern that some houses may never be recovered, leaving many families without permanent housing. The reconstruction of infrastructure and housing could take years, in a country already marked by vulnerabilities.
