Ricardo Couto's fiscal package receives 71 amendments at Alerj and returns to committees

The so-called "fiscal package" sent by the acting governor of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Couto, received 71 amendments at the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj) on this Tuesday. The two projects that make up the package returned to the House's committees before being again considered by the plenary.

The proposals deal with the creation of the Chronic Debtor Law, which toughens rules against companies that repeatedly fail to pay taxes, and the regulation of tax transaction, a mechanism that expands the possibilities for negotiating debts with the State.

The debt renegotiation project concentrated 49 amendments, while the chronic debtor proposal received another 22 changes presented by the parliamentarians.

The president of Alerj, Deputy Douglas Ruas (PL), stated that the return to committees is a natural procedure given the large volume of amendments received by the projects.
