Every day, eight parents report their children for domestic violence in Portugal. This data reveals the prevalence of this problem in the country.

The most recent case of family violence involves a man in Amadora, suspected of having assaulted his own father. The previous week, this individual attempted to assault PSP police officers and ended up being shot during the police intervention.

After the incident, the man was detained but ended up being released. However, he reoffended, committing acts of violence again.

This time, the justice system decided to take away his freedom, placing him in preventive detention as a result of his repeat offending conduct.
