Carts used by corn vendors were found parked on the mud at Post 3 of Flamengo Landfill, in Rio de Janeiro's South Zone, after last weekend's rains. Images taken by visitors of the leisure area showed a large pot, without a lid, with corn exposed directly to the weather conditions. The equipment was tied to a tree at the location.
In the early hours of Tuesday (1st), the Municipal Secretariat for Public Order (Seop) collected about a ton of equipment that was stored irregularly in the area. The action took place after images of the problem circulated on social media and went viral.
Another record, made near the Belmonte restaurant, showed a woman cleaning corn next to a trash bin while another person placed the food in a pot. The caption accompanying the video denounced the precarious conditions of food handling being sold in the area.
