Almost a week after the tragedy in Nepal, families continue to hold onto the hope of finding their missing loved ones. TVI and CNN Portugal traveled to one of the few places that represents hope amidst the humanitarian catastrophe.
Many family members travel long distances across the country to the town of Nuwakot, where the coordination center for rescue operations is located. This site receives both people who are rescued alive from the disaster-affected areas, as well as the bodies of many victims who are being found lifeless.
The Nuwakot coordination center has become a mandatory passage point for those seeking answers, simultaneously representing a place of hope for some and mourning for others. The news coverage was carried out by special correspondents Sandra Almeida Azevedo and Nuno Gomes Lopes.
