A new campaign by the Portuguese Association Against Leukemia (APCL) is giving voice to people with hemato-oncological diseases and healthcare professionals to think of a different National Health Service (SNS). The campaign, entitled "If I were in charge", seeks to collect testimonies and experiences that can contribute to the improvement of healthcare in Portugal.
The initiative comes at a time when many patients face difficulties in accessing treatments and in the follow-up of their health conditions. The campaign aims to be a space for reflection where both patients and professionals can share their perspectives on what should change in the Portuguese health system.
APCL, as an association dedicated to supporting patients with leukemia and other blood diseases, assumes a mediating role in this initiative, collecting testimonies and seeking to give visibility to the real needs of those living with these diseases and those working on the frontlines of healthcare.
The ultimate goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of the challenges faced by these patients and to influence health policies that allow for a more accessible and efficient NHS for all citizens.
