The deadline to request the cancellation of a return made by the Special Return Mechanism (MED) of Pix increased from 30 to 80 days as of this Tuesday (the 1st). The change extends the period to contest returns considered improper, including cases of scams that take advantage of the tool's purpose.
The MED allows blocking and attempting to recover values from Pix transactions in cases of fraud, scam, or crime. The deadline to request the return of money through the tool continues to be 80 days, counted from the date of the transaction.
According to the Central Bank (BC), the change made now refers only to the deadline to contest or cancel a return that has already been made. The BC informed that the request for cancellation of a return is a negligible fraction of the return requests, and that the deadline was standardized to the same 80 days.
